“Orgasms, by the way,” I said following her, “have zero to do with love. Love is when you feel nothing positive whatsoever in the moment but still force yourself to care.”
I don't know if I agree with the reduction of love to this and nothing but, but it's onto something that's usually overlooked.
Damn. This is SO MUCH BETTER than anything published in any science fiction magazine today. WTF is wrong with the publishing industry today? Why is this sitting here ignored while high-profile magazines pump out nothing but highbrow shit or lowbrow shit?
I especially like the line “Increasing the number of Principles negatively impacts moral performance.” There's deep wisdom in that observation. (And, yes, I often say I don't believe in "wisdom"; and I still don't, not in the usual sense of being a domain of ethics distinct from reason and intelligence.) It's one of the primary arguments in favor of utilitarianism, which can accommodate any number of Principles.
Great story! You should try to publish it.
Thanks so much for reading it. That means a lot.

Thanks for the thoughtful reading. I’m glad parts of it connected.
This is also a thoughtful line:
